Chub mackerel is a medium-sized pelagic fish. During the winter months, it’s found in deeper waters, but in warmer temperatures schools of chub mackerel are found in warm and temperate transition waters.
Chub mackerel is harvested all year round in the Eastern Central Atlantic (FAO 34), off the coast of West Africa.
Chub mackerel is caught with a mid-water pelagic trawl.
