Famed for its ability to travel huge distances, Atlantic horse mackerel can descend to 1000 metres during winter.

Atlantic horse mackerel is a streamlined, fast-swimming fish that grows rapidly. By the first autumn after spring spawning, Atlantic horse mackerel are typically around 15 cm in length – and can reach up to 60 cm in total.

Atlantic horse mackerel is harvested all year round in the Eastern Central Atlantic (FAO 34), off the coast of West Africa.
