Sardine feed on small planktonic animals, and scatter large numbers of pelagic eggs. Pacific sardines grow up to 40 cm, and live to about 13 years.
Sardine can be found across the North Atlantic Ocean at any time of year. Our sardine are harvested in the Central East Atlantic Ocean (FAO area 34).
Sardine is caught with a mid-water pelagic trawl (OTM).

Pacific sardine reaches maximum length of 30 cm and weight of 140 gr.
Evasive behaviour and camouflage is what Pacific chub mackerel relies onto stay hidden from its predators.
Similar to sardine, sardinella are more brightly coloured when freshly caught.
