Similar to sardine, sardinella are more brightly coloured when freshly caught.
Sardinella, also known as pesce azzurro, is brightly coloured with a blue-green back and silver sides. Sardinella is a tireless migrator, and feeds on planktonic animals.
Sardinella are harvested throughout the year in the Central East Atlantic Ocean (FAO area 34).
Sardinella is caught with a mid-water pelagic trawl (OTM).
